The “Certificate of Tax Paid” is a document that proves how much tax you have paid.
The “Certificate of Municipal Residents’ Tax/Prefectural Residents’ Tax (tax exemption)” and “Certificate of Tax Paid” are required in the following situations:
・Applying for a scholarship
・Purchasing a house or car
・Applying for nursery school
・Extending your status of residence
<How to obtain these certificates>
You can obtain these certificates by submitting an application at your local administrative office. (Fee applies.)
*They will be issued from the administrative office where you are registered as of January 1st of the year.
(For example: You were registered as a resident in Minato ward in Tokyo as of January 1, 2021 and moved to Naka ward in Yokohama on January 31, 2021. If you need a certificate for Reiwa 3rd (2021), you will apply for it in Minato ward in Tokyo and not Naka ward in Yokohama)
