Notice from the Immigration Services Agency

There was a notice from the Immigration Services Agency of Japan, dated March 10, regarding the period of validity of the Certificate of Eligibility.

Due to the various circumstances associated with the effects of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Certificate of Eligibility that is normally valid for “3 months” will be treated as valid for “6 months” for the time being. With this treatment, you will be able to use the Certificate of Eligibility of within six months for visa applications* and landing applications.

*Please note: It is necessary to apply for a visa at a diplomatic mission abroad. If you intend to use a Certificate of Eligibility which 3 months or longer time has passed since its issuance date at the time of applying for the issuance of a visa at the diplomatic mission abroad, you will be required to submit document from your accepting organization indicated that they are still accepting you in the form of the contents of the activities given at the time of your application for the issuance of the Certificate of Eligibility.
